Description:
The automatic anode beam raising equipment (ABRE) is used to lift the anode busbar periodically. The automatic ABRE is regularly lifted bythe PTM to the area above the pot.The frame-equipped devices are handled byremote controlfor operations such as clamping of anode rods, getting close tothe anode busbar,release of grabs, etc.

The ABRE is pneumatic- controlled and an operator can control the movements of cylinders and pneumatic motors through a remote-control transmitter. Featured by safety, reliability and non-pollution, it can be used in a high magnetic field, high temperature, and dusty environments for a long period.

Structure:
The equipment consists ofthe main frame, anodegrabs, pneumatic wrenches, lifting beams, striking mechanism, landing legs, ground supports, etc.

General Structural Features and Working Principle:
The ABRE mainly consists of a Main Frame, Anode Grabs, Guide Legs, a Lifting Lug, Slides, Ground Support (integrated with the Trailer), Pneumatic System, Remote Control System, etc. 
Working principle: ABRE is put on the ground support if not working. When working, it is connected to air source and lifted by the PTM; the upper & lower cylinders are connected with air and the anode grabs will be open and perpendicular to the ground. The guiding &support legs and Anode Grabs will be aligned with the anode jacking system’s guide devices and anode rods, then the AJF will be slowly put down onto the 
pot shell. The upper and lower cylinders will then be closed to allow the anode grabs grabbing the anode rods and pressing the anode rods against the anode beam very tightly.The anode clamps will be loosened by the pneumatic wrench motors. After all the anode clamps are loosened, the anode weight is transferred to the guiding & support legs of the ABRE through the Anode Grabs, and the ABRE will start to lift the anode beam. When Anode Beam has been lifted, the anode clamps will be fastened by the pneumatic motors and the upper & lower cylinder will be connected with air, and the anode grabs will be open, and then the ABRE will be lifted away from the pot.

Key Features:
1. The Clamp Mechanism
The clamp mechanism is operated in an efficient way with no harm to the rod which will need less maintenance.

2. The Grab
The Grab is a key working part of ABRE. It consists of upper & lower cylinder supports, grabbing spring, pressing spring, regulating spring, grabbing plate, regulatingbar, upper & lower cylinders, cleaning pipes etc. Grab plate is open when grabbing cylinder is connected to air source, then anode rods will be inserted into the grabs. After air source is cut off, the grabbing plate will hold anode rod very tight with its grabbing spring. When top cylinders are connected with air source, the lower cylinder support and the grabbed anode rod will swing inward, so that the anode rods will be pressed very tightly against the anode beam.


3.The anode clamp bolting/un-bolting mechanism 
The anode clamp bolting/un-bolting mechanism is fully automatic. There is one wrench for each anode grab.The wrench is driven by an air motor.

4.The Anode Striking Mechanism
The anode striking mechanism is automatically activated when the anode rods are clamped to ensure the proper contact between the anode rods and anode beam, and to reduce voltage drop.

5.Upper-frame Cylinder
The upper-frame cylinder is specially designed for failure safe. It consists of two springs and adjusting screw. During lifting the busbar, the upper-frame cylinder is closed.The restoring force of the built-in spring gets the anode rod close to the busbar tightly instead of connecting the upper-frame cylinder. Thus the risk of heavy accident is lower, even if the air pressure falls suddenly or the air hose is broken, etc.
